Alivia Gonzales is a licensed Colorado attorney focused on criminal litigation and constitutional rights and remedies. She currently serves as a Deputy District Attorney in the Fourth Judicial District, covering El Paso and Teller Counties, where she manages an active docket of approximately 250 criminal cases and has taken 30 cases to jury trial.

Experience

Since August 2022, Gonzales has handled a high-volume criminal docket for the Fourth Judicial District, managing case strategy, motions practice, and trial preparation across a wide range of criminal matters. Her trial experience includes 30 jury trials to date, giving her firsthand insight into how criminal cases are built, argued, and won or lost in the courtroom.

Before joining the District Attorney's office as an attorney, Gonzales spent two years gaining hands-on courtroom experience there as a law student. As a 3L intern (January–May 2022), she ran dockets across multiple courtrooms and assisted attorneys with jury trials and motions hearings. As a 2L intern (May–August 2021), she co-managed her own docket, took cases to trial, and worked as second chair during trials and hearings, developing courtroom teamwork and case-management skills early in her legal career.

Earlier, as a research assistant at the University of Denver (August–December 2020), Gonzales supported faculty research on Adams County's drug court system, reviewing court transcripts for accuracy and tracking program success rates, work that shaped her early understanding of how alternative sentencing and treatment courts function in Colorado.
